YABBA
Built on the site of an old farm shack within a prominent dairy farm, this contemporary farmhouse is shaped by its rural setting and expansive outlook across the Mitta River flats.
Location: Tallandoon, VIC
Simple gable forms reference traditional agricultural buildings, while generous openings frame views of the surrounding farmland and hills, creating a strong and constant connection between the home and the landscape.
A robust palette of recycled brick, corrugated metal, and polished concrete was selected to withstand the realities of farm life while developing character with age.
Internally, warm timber joinery and restrained finishes soften the harder materials, while a wood fire and carefully framed views reinforce the home’s sense of place – resulting in a practical, enduring home that feels entirely at ease in its rural setting.
